12/15 - Saturday - National Wreaths Across America Day - Join the Bath National Cemetery. The goal for Bath National Cemetery is to raise enough funds to place 5,000 veterans’ wreaths on the headstones of the local heroes laid to rest there, to ensure that the individuals who served to protect the freedoms of our country never be forgotten and to bring the community together in patriotic commemoration. Last year more than 3,200 wreaths were laid.

1/5/2019 - Saturday - The Chemung County Sheriff's Office announced a new pistol permit upgrade and safety class. The three hour class is open to New York State and Bradford County Pennsylvania residents. The course will show pistol permit applicants the safe handling of a firearm, and cover current laws regarding guns. 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Department of Social Services on Pennsylvania Avenue in Elmira. The class has a $20 fee -- and you must register with the pistol permit division with the sheriff's office.
